Support For Japan from Global Village Champions Foundation

Global Village Champions Foundation, in support of the earthquake and tsunami ravaged regions of Japan,has donated 10 tons of rice, 100 field emergency medical kits, 4 cases of first aid kits and $50,000.00 USD. These donations were made through the Salvation Army, Save The Children, Global Giving, Oxfam Japan, Care Canada and the Red Cross. A Global Village sponsored medical team reached Japan Sunday March 13 and relayed their assessments to Global Village founder and Chairman Yank Barry. It is not surprising that they stated, “It is impossible to appreciate the extent of the destruction without seeing it first-hand. The power of the tsunami was breathtaking. The obvious immediate needs for many displaced Japanese people are food, clean water and warm and dry shelter. The 8.9 magnitude earthquake appears to have damaged much of the country’s transportation infrastructure. The just-in-time stocking of grocery stores means that many food stores only have two to three days supply of food on hand at any moment. At present it seems as though there are major obstacles preventing the delivery of food and water to many grocery outlets in Japan.” Global Village Champions Foundation is committed to providing ongoing support to the exceptional organizations that are helping many Japanese residents to access the immediate necessities of life.

Dr. Michael Nobel - Joins Fight to End Global Hunger

Global Village Champions Foundation is truly honoured to welcome Dr. Michael Nobel as our newest "Champion" lending his efforts to see "A Day Without Hunger".

Dr. Michael Nobel was born in Sweden and has been living in Switzerland for many years. He is a citizen of Sweden and Switzerland.

Grandnephew of Dr. Alfred Nobel, heads the Nobel Charitable Trust Fund, contribution on conflict resolution programs and peace, education through music and humanitarianism.

Dr. Michael Nobel is today chairman or board member of ten international companies. These involve diagnostics, treatment and information in the field of medicine; other areas include Internet service provisions, software development, investment banking, recreational facilities and management consulting.

In his idealistic work Michael Nobel is chairman or board member of several non-for-profit organizations in the fields of conflict resolution, youth education and development. He is also executive chairman of the Nobel Charitable Trust, which gives awards to politicians, scientists and corporate leaders in the area of renewable energy and organizes conferences in the same field.

Michael Nobel sits on several prominent international prize committees. He has received a number of international citations and awards for his work in the fields of medicine and conflict resolution including an honorary doctorate from Soka University in Tokyo and an honorary professorship from the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan. He is also an honorary member of two Rotary clubs, in Karlskoga and Miami and in 1997 Rotary International conferred on him the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

Global Village Champions - Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura of Thailand

It is an honour and great privilege to welcome  Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura, of Thailand as a Global Village Champion.  Millions of children have a brighter future because of Mom's determined efforts to lift children up and encourage them to live to their potential.

Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura, affectionately called ‘Mom...’ by her friends around the World, is the great, great granddaughter of King Rama IV of Thailand, famously depicted with much license, in the beloved musical The King and I. Mom demonstrates tolerance and love transcending boundaries of nations and race that provides an example for others to emulate.  She dedicates her abundant energy to a wide variety of humanitarian, environmental, educational, cultural and spiritual pursuits. 

“I am honored to join Yank Barry as a Global Village Champion and I truly rejoice with Yank and Yvette's merits in feeding the hungry, "The Perfect Incredible Couple". In October, 2006, Philippe Douste-Blazy was elected President of UNITAID, a multilateral South-North organization and a global health partnership established under the auspices of the United Nations to fi ght AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria among the world’s’ most vulnerable populations, most of whom live in countries devastated by conflict and war (e.g. Haiti, Central African Republic, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Angola, Guinea, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Irak…). UNITAID is based at the World Health Organization Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

A Time To Be Grateful Awards Dinner

Yank Barry was invited as the Keynote Speaker to the 7th Annual "A Time to Be Grateful" Awards Dinner held in Louisville Kentucky December 18th sponsored by The Muslim Journal.  The event was well attended with our 2,000 in attendance. Funds raised were in support of charity.
