If you could make a difference in a hungry child's life with a $10.00 Members Fee, would you? If you knew that the $10.00 not only feeds a hungry child but that it fosters hope for the future, would you become apart of a caring community. If you knew that your membership fee supports an orphanage in Haiti, would you join. Global Village Champions Foundation and Yank Barry have adopted the entire orphanage and the children are thriving with our support.

If you knew that your annual fee of $10.00 helped to support a Hospice in the Philippines for children of families that cannot afford proper medical care, would you join us?
Ricky Reyes, Yank Barry at a Hospice in The Philippines, Yank fell in love with these beautiful children and committed to supply food to the hospice for the next year
For almost 20 years philanthropist Yank Barry and his close personal friend Muhammad Ali have been quietly travelling the globe taking food to children in dire circumstances. The Foundation has been private until 2010 and food and funding has been provided by Yank and his many caring friends, many of them celebrities and many of them have Become Global Village Champions
Muhammad Ali and Yank Barry on one of our many trips to Africa
Global Village Champions Foundation not only has delivered over 526 Million Meals to people in need, we are also first responders to many of the world's natural disasters, with critical medical, water and food supplies. We have established strong partnerships with many other charitable organizations including Care, The Rotary, Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Doctors Without Borders and many more.
So Why a Members Campaign? We are committed to building a community of individuals from around the world. That is one reason why we kept the annual fee to $10.00. We wanted to encourage people from all economic backgrounds to become involved, to be a part of the solution, to know that there participation goes beyond a financial contribution.
With the many devastating natural disasters that the world has endured in the last few years you never know when you will be the person asking for help. Many times "Villagers" (as we are called) will reach out to let us know of a situation in their own community that could use help. A recent example came from a Villager in Alabama. He contacted us to let us know how critical things were in Alabama after the devastating tornadoes and that there was no access to drinking water. Partnering with the Salvation Army in Birmingham we bought all available bottled water we could locate and delivered 9200 bottles to them, along with energy bars and canned food. Yank Barry jumped on a plane and went to survey the damage himself to see what other help we could give to the region.

Nelson singer-songwriter Aly Cook has joined the ranks of Celine Dion, Michael Jordan, Jon Voight, Evander Holyfield, Bo Derek, Muhummad Ali, Buzz Aldrin and Steven Seagal in being named a "luminary" supporter of a charity seeking to end world hunger.
Cook is now a "Champion" for Global Village, an international group working with other volunteer and non-government organisations to feed poverty-stricken people around the world.
It is another recent accolade for Cook, a self-managed, independent country crossover musician. Together with Nelson race walker Nyle Sutherland, she is among the 25 national finalists for this year's Next Magazine New Zealand Woman of the Year Awards.
Global Village, in existence for 18 years, counts 42 "champions" as public supporters, and Cook is the first New Zealander to become one.
She was in illustrious company, she said. "They choose people who are different kinds of figureheads for different reasons. It's a small organisation that works as a team providing support for meals and helping out wherever possible. They do a good job of feeding millions of children."
Her role was to raise awareness, and she said it was her skill with social networking that landed her the job. She's now charged with spreading the word about the charity online. "It's an honour and I'm there to help in my way."
Cook has thousands of international contacts on social-network platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and fan fundraising sites such as Sellaband. Through them, she raised US$20,000 in four months to pay for her album Brand New Day. "That's the thing with social networking now.
"You can become more of an entity online than people around you realise. You start to become powerful when you post something and it reaches thousands of people instantly."
Because of her success in crowd-sourcing funds, Cook has become something of a media maven on the topic. She was recently invited to speak at a seminar on social networking for artists when she performs at the Canberra Country Music Festival in November, passing on her tips to others.
Cook has also recently contributed to a CD fundraising for the Christchurch earthquake, We Will Rise Again, that has garnered $9000 for Red Cross.
Global Village does not accept donations, but offers membership for US$10 annually. To find out more visit adaywithouthunger.com.

There are 925 million undernourished people in the world today. That means one in seven people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
Among the key causes of hunger are natural disasters, conflict, poverty, poor agricultural infrastructure and over-exploitation of the environment. Recently, financial and economic
crises have pushed more people into hunger.
As well as the obvious sort of hunger resulting from an empty stomach, there is also the hidden hunger of micronutrient deficiencies which make people susceptible to infectious diseases, impair physical and mental development, reduce their labour productivity and increase the risk of premature death.
Hunger does not only weigh on the individual. It also imposes a crushing economic burden on the developing world. Economists estimate that every child whose physical and mental development is
stunted by hunger and malnutrition stands to lose 5-10 percent in lifetime earnings.
Among the Millennium Development Goals which the United Nations has set for the 21st century, halving the proportion of hungry people in the world is top of the list. Whereas good progress was made in reducing chronic hunger in the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s, hunger has been slowly but steadily rising for the past decade. (source: http://www.wfp.org/hunger )
Countries where Global Village Champions Foundation and Yank Barry has provided "A Day Without Hunger"
Josette Sheeran, the head of the UN's World Food Program, talks about why, in a world with enough food for everyone, people still go hungry, still die of starvation, still use food as a weapon of war.
Her vision: "Food is one issue that cannot be solved person by person. We have to stand together." TEDTALK
Global Village Champions Foundation has quietly been feeding people around the globe for the past 2 decades. As Josette Sheeran states this problem cannot be solved with any one person or any one agency of foundation.
Yank Barry and Global Village Champions recognized the substantial need in the last drought to hit Somalia and once again we have gifted a substantial financial contribution to our partners that are working in the Horn of Africa working to save as many lives as possible. The Need is Dire, please make a contribution to whatever organization you are the most comfortable with.

We have developed trusting strategic NGO partners around the Globe and in times of crisis we make substantial donations to these organizations in order to be first responders with food, water and medical supplies.

Global Village Champions Foundation is looking to increase it's Global Members and we launched our Summer Membership Drive We chose to offer a membership drive as opposed to a straight-up contest or a raffle because we recognize that true givers like to belong. There are many people who have given 5 or 10 dollars to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army and almost immediately say out loud, "I wish I could do more."
Money raised will go directly to feeding children around the globe, whether it be an orphanage in Haiti that we have adopted, the children in a cancer hospice in the Philipinnes or responding with immediate aid in a natural disaster. The Foundation has kept very strict records and to date we have fed of 500 million people around the globe. With your help we will reach our goal of 1 Billion people fed by December 31st, 2013.
The pins represent countries where Yank Barry and Global Village Champions Foundation have provided enough food for every person in the country to have #ADayWithoutHunger
Our current membership drive has a very specific focus, boxing. There are many reasons for this and one of them is that a number of World Champion boxers are Global Village Champions. They care about Yank Barry's determined effort to create A Day Without Hunger. The fan base for boxing is World Wide. Now let's face it, not everyone loves the sport. We knew that going in. The thing is, the new members don't have to love boxing in order to catch the vision of delivering meals to people in need. Even if the new member who wins a trip to Las Vegas with us do not love boxing, they can still take a fabulous trip, for FREE, and meet the team from around the World. Global Village Champions is a registered charity but we do not solicit donations from anyone including the members.

Parts of Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are facing one of the worst droughts in 60 years, and more than 12 million people are desperately in need of food, clean water and basic sanitation.
Despite the urgency of the situation, most world leaders are responding too slowly. Immediate aid is essential. Yet at the same time we must not let them drop the ball on long term solutions as has too often happened in the past.
Anderson Cooper talks to musician Bono and Somalian singer K'nann about the famine in Somalia
Bono:“It’s hard to believe that this is the 21st century and you know we mustn’t let the complexity of the situation absolve us from responsibility to act. That’s really the message … When you hear stories, and as you’ve reported, of women leaving their dead children on the road to come beg for food, to choose between children, can you imagine? ‘I have to leave this one, he looks the weakest or she looks the weakest, I’ll take this one.’ This is outrageous! This can’t be happening, it must be stopped. And it’s not our intentions, it’s our actions. It’s not the possibilities of the United Nations or the AU, it’s our priorities that define us. This is a defining moment.”
